One reason people say they are "spiritual but not religious" is because religion has been misused throughout history to divide rather than unite people. Organized religions have an obligation to raise consciousness and turns our hearts away from prejudice or competition. Religion is not a team sport, where we hoot and holler for who is best, better or right rather it is a place to celebrate our best qualities as humans.
